Hestia’s Good Energy Club is a community engagement public health project designed to engage people living in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, who live with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or low levels of mental well-being, in physical and social activities. The aim is to increase physical fitness, improve mental health and decrease social isolation. The Good Energy Club runs from Monday to Friday. Physical and social activities help members ease back into exercise and social interaction and assist them in their recovery journey. Activities include yoga, pilates, aerobics, Boxfit, coffee and chat club, brunch club and art sessions. "I really enjoyed Boxfit, I’d never tried it before and I was very nervous to begin with. I was encouraged by the instructors and other Good Energy Club members" We work closely with the Kingston community, Kingston Council and small business to not only give opportunities to our members but to help educate Kingston on the struggles and stigma attached to mental health. Activities and classes take place all over the Kingston borough and vary from month to month. Our main hub is at Millenium House, Eden Street, in Kingston, where our coffee and chat club, cooking groups and art sessions are based. "From being a regular runner who belonged to a club, to coming out of hospital from serious first episode psychosis, being on many medications to get me well again, I could not walk or do anything. I was struggling and felt despair as I tried to run again. I found the Good Energy Club and it helped build my confidence. I loved that it helped me to get well and stable and make friends."
