What we do Our support Offender rehabilitation What we do In 2019, Hestia supported 179 people across our offender rehabilitation services For 50 years Hestia has provided support focused on recovery and rehabilitation, and for the last 45 years has provided accommodation and support services to offenders and ex-offenders across a range of settings. Our team provide support in Bromley, Lambeth, Richmond and Wandsworth. Our offender rehabilitation services recognise the impact of trauma on those who commit crimes. Regardless of the cause of this distress, we adopt the same trauma-informed approach in our offender services as we do across the organisation. Hestia’s view is that in order to break the cycle of offending, offenders must be supported, rather than punished. We view rehabilitation as form of recovery. We aim to support individuals to establish and maintain their place in the community by making positive choices to prevent re-offending All our offender services work with service users to develop robust risk management plans. Our multiagency approach allows us to effectively work alongside key professionals such as police, probation, substance misuse and mental health services, amongst others to help prevent victims and protect the public. We take a gender-informed approach to our work, recognise that female offenders often have a different journey towards and through the Criminal Justice System to their male counterparts. We take a targeted approach to working with female offenders, utilising Hestia’s extensive experience of working with women with complex needs. This approach allows us to respond to the growing needs of this cohort. Each service has a specialist staff team who will work with individuals by offering practical support to enable service users to live independently. Accommodation Services Our Approved Premises provide intensive supervision and rehabilitative support for people released on licence from prison. As well as playing an important role in monitoring and managing the risk of their residents, our services also provide key workers and a programme of purposeful activities designed to reduce re-offending and help with reintegration back into the community. Our shared accommodation services in Bromley and Lambeth, provide support to individuals who have experiences of the Criminal Justice System. We work with our service users to support them to better manage their mental health, substance misuse or other additional needs, and therefore reducing their risk of future offending. We also provide Tenancy Sustainment Support to individual in Bromley. This support is delivered either through one to one support following a referral, or at one of our community clinics. Floating Support Services Our Floating Support Services are based in Wandsworth and Richmond. We provide a Visiting Support Service to individuals who are managed under Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) for up to 18 months. Our staff work with individuals by offering practical support to enable them to move-on to more independent, long-term accommodation and to remain free of offending.
