“We could not deliver the standard of services that we aspire to if weren’t for volunteers’ involvement” – Patrick Ryan, Hestia CEO.

Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is all about focusing on the commitment and tireless work that volunteers put in to benefiting each and every community. Here at Hestia, we rely on our volunteers to be able to support our services, and it’s through their continuous dedication that we’re able to help thousands of adults and children in crisis across London.

Each year, as a small token of our gratitude, we host two volunteer events to celebrate the work they do and recognise the time they offer. On Monday 4th June, to coincide with Volunteers’ Week, we hosted our fabulous Volunteering Awards at our partner Winckworth Sherwood’s office in London.

Volunteers were able to enjoy lunch and socialise in the office overlooking the City of London and River Thames, before sitting down to cheer on our big winners.

Hestia CEO Patrick Ryan opened the awards ceremony, noting the vital role that volunteers play in the successful running of Hestia’s services. Hestia Trustee Malcolm Jenkin followed, speaking about the sheer passion and effort displayed by our volunteers in striving to change the lives of those in crisis.

And the winners are…

  • Dedicated Award, Linsey Gonzalez

  • Respect Award, Nathan Still

  • Empowerment Award, Carolina Turrion-Eichler

  • Creative Award, Jenna Woolford

  • Collaborative Award, Emilia Atmanagra and Bisrat Yigletu

  • Supervisor of the Year, Clare Carty

  • Volunteer of the Year Award, Natasha Ventour

A massive congratulations to all of our winning volunteers, and our endless thanks to all of those who selflessly choose to dedicate their time to working alongside us. We're over the moon to have you all as part of the team.

We'd also like to extend a very big thank you to Winckworth Sherwood for hosting the ceremony, and to our corpate partners PZ Cussons, Moore Stephens, Sperry Marine and HSBC for lending a hand by presenting the awards to our volunteers.

Here's to another year of working together to make a difference.
