LGBTQ+ Network

What is the LGBTQ+ network at Hestia?

The Hestia LGBTQ+ Network brings together colleagues from across the organisation to support Hestia team and service users who identify as LGBTQ+. We also encourage LGBTQ+ Allies to be part of the wider Network.

Working across the whole organisation from operational service delivery at the interface with people who use Hestia services, to all our central support services such as HR, IT, Finance and communications and fundraising, the LGBTQ+ Network actively raises awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in Hestia and the wider community, promotes visibility and equity and helps colleagues and service users support each other to celebrate equity, diversity and inclusion.

The LGBTQ+ Network helps shaping Hestia’s policies and procedures, ensuring that equity, diversity, and inclusion is embedded in these, and guides how they are translated into practice.

Working alongside external organisations and partners, the LGBTQ+ Network welcomes input from relevant external specialist agencies and community groups to develop policy and procedures and to implement associated best working practice.

Alongside Hestia’s other networks, and with intersectionality at its core, the LGBTQ+ Network promotes and organises internal and external events to celebrate key events like LGBTQ+ History Month, Trans Day of Visibility, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, and LGBTQ+ Pride.
