The Lantern, Islington is a walk-in crisis centre run in partnership with West and North London NHS. We are here to provide practical and emotional support for adults experiencing a mental health crisis, with no waiting list. Residents in the boroughs of Islington, Camden, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield can drop in without an appointment.

The Lantern is open on weekday evenings (6pm to 10pm) and weekend and bank holiday afternoons (2pm to 6pm). We are open every day of the year.

When you arrive, one of our Recovery Workers will offer you a confidential one-to-one session where you can talk about what’s going on for you. Staff provide immediate listening and can help you identify your next steps.

We also run a daily activity group. Our activity groups are held in an inclusive, accessible space. After your initial session you are welcome to come along to one or several groups, and there is no need to book.

• Mondays – Women’s Group (7pm) confidential sharing & listening
• Tuesdays – Relaxation Group (7pm) guided meditations & mindfulness
• Wednesdays – Creative Writing Group (7pm) working with reflective prompts
• Thursdays – Art Group (7pm) painting, drawing & crafts
• Fridays – Men’s Group (7pm) confidential sharing & listening
• Saturdays – Wellbeing Group (3pm) talks & tips for emotional wellbeing
• Sundays – Social Sundays (3pm) boardgames, puzzles & refreshments

We also provide signposting and referrals for anyone who needs longer term support.

Eligibility criteria

To use the service, individuals must be:

• A resident of Islington, Camden, Haringey, Barnet or Enfield
• Aged 18 or over.

We only accept online referrals from organisations.

Accessing The Lantern, Islington:

We operate on a drop-in basis with no appointment needed. If you would rather speak with someone on the phone, just call the service on the number below during opening hours.

We are open 6pm – 10pm on weekdays and 2pm – 6pm on weekends.
