Hestia launches Recovery Cafe

Hestia was delighted to announce the official launch of our Recovery Café on July 20th at 3.30 p.m.

Since the café opened on 7th April, over 135 people have visited the café, with one customer describing it as “better than counselling”.    The café was officially named “the Hestia Recovery Café” by the customers who have used it.

This is an innovative new mental health service in the heart of Tooting has been commissioned by South West London and St. George’s NHS Mental Health Trust (SWLSTG).

It complements the diverse portfolio of mental health services provided, supporting individuals in mental health crisis to reduce their immediate anxiety, formulating individual plans to support their mental health and thereby reducing the likelihood of requiring assistance from local accident and emergency services.

The café is based at Hestia’s site in Garratt Lane (3 minutes from Tooting Broadway tube station) and provides a safe space for people to gain assistance if they feel they may be moving towards, or are currently experiencing a mental health crisis.  People aged 18 and over from South West London (Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Richmond and Wandsworth) can self-present to the Café. The service is free and there is no requirement to pre-book an appointment.

The Café is open 365 days, from 6pm – 11pm (Mon-Fri) and 12 noon – 11pm (Sat / Sun & bank holidays).
