What is Hestia raising money for?

Children and mothers find safety in Hestia’s domestic abuse refuges, though their recovery journeys are just beginning. The festive period can be an especially difficult time, triggering painful memories and feelings of guilt for mothers struggling to afford food and gifts. Your support helps to overcome this. Together, we create a festive environment that encourages children to have fun, celebrate as a family and start to rebuild their lives.

Your support will help:

• Provide dedicated support for children who have experienced domestic abuse via a Children and Family Worker in each refuge.

• Support a programme of fun and creative activities for the children and families. Including arts and crafts sessions within the refuge as well as trips and outings to local attractions.
• Ensure refuges are welcoming and supportive physical environments. Small touches like welcome gifts or christmas cards make a big difference to how children settle into their refuge stay.

From a warm welcome and a toy when they arrive to the refuge, to homework clubs and 1-2-1 sessions, our children and family work programme is designed to help children heal from their trauma.
