Last week, Members of Parliament welcomed Hestia’s 2023 Art is Freedom exhibition to Portcullis House. The exhibition, featuring artwork by survivors of modern slavery, will be on display for the month of February in the Portcullis House Atrium.

Survivors-artists supported by Hestia met with former Primer Minister Theresa May, and Victims & Safeguarding Minister, Laura Farris, to discuss their artworks and the benefits of art as a recovery tool, as well as the support they have received from Hestia.

Former Prime Minister, Theresa May, commented:

“It was wonderful to meet the survivors and to celebrate their creativity and resilience. I am grateful for the continued contribution of organisations like Hestia, who remind us of the reality of modern slavery in the UK while supporting thousands of survivors every year on the road to recovery. I hope that many colleagues across both houses are inspired by the Art is Freedom exhibition.”

Art is Freedom is an annual exhibition which takes place each October across iconic London locations including Trafalgar Square and Waterloo station. It aims to raise awareness of this brutal crime while celebrating the talents and creativity of survivors.
