We are delighted to announce that Hestia’s Registered Care Home service Lynton Terrace, Acton, has been nominated for a Tesco Community Grant, and you can help them win.

The service, which provides accommodation and support for adults with enduring mental health needs, started the G.R.O.W Project during Spring 2021. Taking full advantage of the benefits of working among nature for your mental health, staff and residents have given their outside space a full makeover, turning it in to a beautiful garden. The garden also provides fresh, organic produce which is grown and eaten by residents and members of the local community.

Tesco customers can pick up a token with each purchase at participating stores, and use the token to vote for the G.R.O.W Project to win. Pop your token into the voting station, often found at the front of Tesco stores. Every vote counts!

The ethos of the project is based on residents’ ideas about the most important values of recovery: Gratitude, Resilience, Optimism and Wisdom.

Green-fingered service users, alongside a group of volunteers, have created a green space that includes a Sensory Garden, a Resilience Patch which grows plants that thrive whatever the weather, and a Wisdom Garden, where residents run sessions for members of the community to drop in and learn new skills (as well as take home some free veg!).

Sophie Coker, Team Manager at Lynton Terrace, said:

“Residents and staff have worked tirelessly to create the G.R.O.W Project, as a ray of sunshine in the dark period of Covid-19 and its many challenges. Residents will use this funding to develop the G.R.O.W Projects so that it can increase the benefits to their local community with free, healthy, sustainable and locally grown produce. This will also build a stronger and more connected community, that will be able to support each other to thrive no matter what challenges the future holds."

You can cast your vote in seven Tesco stores in Ealing: Ealing Broadway Centre, Acton Express, Northfields, Haven Green, Uxbridge Road, North Acton and Acton Metro.

You can cast your vote between the 1 October and 31 December 2021.
