10K with little to no training? A piece of cake. Here’s what went down…

For many, a 10K run complete with heaps of mud, 15 injury-inducing obstacle courses and a 100% chance of falling head first into a metre of water would require more than a little training.

Not for us.

With little more than a couple of weeks (or days, for some!) to prepare, we took on the 10K Rough Runner race, raising money to support adults and children in crisis across London.

Alongside the Mishcon De Reya and PZ Cussons teams, our wonderful corporate partners, we swung high, ducked low, and waded through water and mud with the hopeful intention of making it past the 10KM finish line in one piece.

Not only did we claw our way up 'The Travelator' and back down the other side (into a pool of muddy water, of course) to the finish line, we had an absolute blast doing so. Whilst each obstacle was an absolute bundle of joy, team favourites included ‘Fearless Fall’, ‘Big Tipper’ and ‘Swept Off Your Feet’ (although not for Marcus, who got a slight headache from this one – watch the video below)!

We’d like to extend a massive thank you to the courageous teams from Mishcon De Reya who raised a whopping total of £8,000. All money raised will be used to further support the children in our Westminster domestic abuse refuges.

Emma Woollcott, Partner at Mishcon de Reya said:

"We are delighted to have supported Hestia over the past few months, sponsoring the summer scheme for children in London refuges and raising funds through a 10km Rough Runner. We have so enjoyed meeting Hestia's brave service users and their families, and are proud to support the charity's vital and extraordinary work with those fleeing domestic abuse and escaping modern day slavery."

Fragile bones and sore muscles aside, we would do it all again in a heartbeat (just with a little more training next time)!

Natasha, Strategy Assistant at Hestia said:

"It was the most challenging but exhilarating thing I have ever done. It's about team spirit, it's about having fun, and it's about raising money for vulnerable adults and children."

If you think what we got up to on Saturday looks awfully hard and would like to donate, you still can – click here for more details. Every pound counts.
