Domestic abuse refuges

Hestia's domestic abuse refuges are a place of safety for any mother and child made homeless by domestic abuse. We also offer emotional and practical support and ensure that every service user has an up-to-date risk assessment and support plan tailored to their needs.

Community-based support

In addition to our refuge services, our Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVA), Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and floating support teams supported almost 2,300 people living in the community who are at high risk of violence and abuse.

Across the UK almost one million children are affected by domestic abuse every year, either directly through their own experience or indirectly by witnessing violence. In our refuge, your child will receive dedicated support from a Children and Family Worker.

During school summer holidays, Hestia runs a six-week Summer Play Scheme providing activities and outings for mothers and their children across our refuges.

Funded through generous donations from the public, the Summer Play Scheme provides the mums and children with a safe and supported space to reconnect and create new happy memories.

UK SAYS NO MORE is national campaign to raise awareness for domestic abuse and sexual violence.

The groups are facilitated by trained volunteers as well as the domestic abuse team from Hestia. All our volunteers have been either a resident at one of our refuges or previously attended one of our Butterfly Groups.
