On Wednesday 25th July 2018, Hestia will be taking part in Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking: Supporting Victims and Reducing Exploitation in Manchester to provide examples of good practice from our Modern Slavery Response service.

Abigail Ampofo, Director of Operations at Hestia, will be sharing success stories and case studies about our service to help other organisation better tackle modern slavery.

We supported 870 adult victims of modern slavery and 315 dependent children in 2017.

The event will bring together organisations looking to develop their strategy further to prevent trafficking and hear from the Modern Slavery Transformation Unit about their role in ending this crime. The day will also discuss the referral victims through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) as well improving the identification of victims and the initial response.

Speakers include (with more to be announced):

  • Abigail Ampofo, Director of Operations at Hestia
  • Darryl Dixon, Director of Strategy, Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
  • DC Colin Ward, Modern Slavery Police Transformation Unit
  • DC Polly Marsh, Modern Slavery Police Transformation Unit
