Hestia to launch innovative project to provide long-term support to victims of modern slavery.

In January 2018, Hestia will launch the Phoenix Project to help victims of modern slavery to rebuild their lives.

Working across London, the Phoenix Project aims to partner victims (who have been granted positive leave to remain) with specialist volunteers throughout the public sector. By linking victims of modern slavery with volunteers in business, education, law, housing and other similar sectors, the Phoenix Project aims to reduce the risk facing these vulnerable individuals.

These specialist volunteers will provide crucial connections within the victim’s new communities, helping them to make effective steps towards recovery and independence.

How you can help

We are looking for energetic and passionate volunteers who are able to make a difference to the lives of survivors of modern slavery.

We are seeking professional volunteers from the worlds of business, education, law, housing, health, therapeutic support and similar sectors to support survivors of modern slavery to establish new community roots.

The project will run in all London Boroughs.

Your specialist skills will provide priceless support for survivors, helping them to become integrated in their new communities. Not only will this help people to feel empowered, but improve their overall wellbeing and build confidence and self-esteem.

We are looking for volunteers to:

• Provide agreed specialist support and advice to survivors of modern slavery.
• Be able and willing to share your skills and knowledge.
• Meet with survivors in a mutually agreed place in the local community to support their overall wellbeing.
• Establish relationships, maintain boundaries and keep accurate records of contact and interactions.
• Work in collaboration with the Phoenix Volunteer Coordinator to provide the best level of support for survivors of Modern Slavery.
