Hestia to Launch Recovery Cafe

We are really excited to announce Hestia will soon be delivering a Recovery Café in Tooting!  This innovative, new service will complement our diverse portfolio of mental health services by supporting individuals in mental health crisis to reduce their immediate anxiety, make some individual  plans to support their mental health and reduce the likelihood that they may use A&E.

Based in our venue in Garratt Lane (3mins from Tooting Broadway tube station) from early April 2017, The Café will provide a safe space for people who feel they are moving towards or are experiencing a mental health crisis.

People, aged 18+, from South West London (Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Richmond and Wandsworth) can self-present at the Café.

The Café will help people discuss the nature of the crisis they are experiencing, their strengths and the coping skills they could use to decrease their distress and promote their well-being. The café will also help people make practical plans which aim to help to avoid reoccurrence of a mental health crisis.

In line with our principles of The Hestia Approach, this service will be designed in co-production with stakeholders including customers, staff, local organisations and the commissioners (South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust).

The Recovery Café will be a welcoming, friendly and non-stigmatising environment offering food, activities and quiet spaces to cater for individual needs.

Hestia staff will be supported on site by The Listening Place, the local Home Treatment Teams, volunteers and peer champions.

The Café will be open 365 days, from 6pm – 11pm (Mon-Fri) and 12 noon – 11pm (Sat / Sun & bank holidays).

For further information, please contact Kirsty Williams, Business Development Manager.

A second Recovery Café has also been commissioned in South London and will be run by CDARS at 296a Kingston Road, Wimbledon Chase.
